Accessibility

The short version: we want Rungeist to be usable by as many people as possible, and we have built with that in mind. We have not had an external audit, so we do not claim formal conformance. If something blocks you, email us and we will fix it.

What we have done

The website is built with semantic HTML, so headings, lists and landmarks describe the page to a screen reader rather than relying on visual styling alone. Beyond that:

  • Controls are real buttons and links rather than clickable images, so they are reachable and operable by keyboard — including the FAQ, which opens with Enter or Space. We do not suppress the browser’s focus outline, so you can see where you are.
  • Text and interface colours are checked for contrast against the background they actually sit on, in both light and dark appearance.
  • Animation respects your system setting: with Reduce Motion turned on, the product demo stops animating and shows a still frame.
  • Fonts are self-hosted and text scales with your browser’s zoom.

What we do not claim

The site has not undergone a formal external accessibility audit, and we do not claim conformance with WCAG 2.2 or EN 301 549. We would rather tell you what we actually know than publish a badge we have not earned.

One gap we are aware of: the product demo on the home page advances by itself. It can be controlled with the dots beneath it, and it stops entirely if you have Reduce Motion enabled, but there is no explicit pause control for everyone else. That falls short of what WCAG asks for moving content, and it is on our list.

The app itself

Rungeist is a native macOS app, so it inherits the system’s accessibility support: VoiceOver, Increase Contrast, Reduce Motion and text-size settings apply. Actions carry accessibility labels, and the list can be navigated from the keyboard — a global shortcut opens the panel, arrow keys move between servers, and single keys open, restart or stop the selected one. It has not been audited either.
